Sheboygan County Childcare Providers Announcement!

Sheboygan County childcare providers are excited to announce a significant development in early childhood education. The State of Wisconsin has recognized the critical value of early childhood education by introducing a new initiative, the Get Kids Ready program. Starting in July 2026 and running the full calendar year, children who are four years old by the 1st of September 2026, will have the opportunity to participate in this free 4K program, allowing them to receive a solid foundation for kindergarten in a nurturing environment. This program will eliminate the challenges of bus rides or tricky transportation schedules, ensuring a seamless transition for children from early care to their next step on their educational journey.

Key benefits include intentional education available before and after the 4K programming provided by early childhood educators with smaller class sizes and inclusive, developmentally appropriate spaces. "Our expertise in developmentally appropriate education starts from the day children enter our care, as early as 6 weeks old. It's built into each day for children of all ages" said a member from the Sheboygan County Child Care Coalition. This continuous educational approach ensures children receive a consistent and high-quality learning experience throughout their most formative years. Through Get Kids Ready, qualified childcare educators will focus on academic, physical, social-emotional, self-help skills and communication and cognition; providing parents with a comprehensive solution that meets the diverse needs of families in Sheboygan County and throughout Wisconsin.

The Get Kids Ready program is available year-round. The State of Wisconsin pays childcare educators for the time your child spends in Get Kids Ready, making that part of the day free for families.
